We have been here many times over the past yrs and it is one of the only dinners in the Vancouver area that brings me back to a time of old fashion home cooked meals that are filling tasty and keep me feeling full for most of the day.
My mom was a great cook and loved to feed people. This food reminds me of her anytime I eat here from the breakfasts, soups to the pies!
One thing you don't see around the lower mainland much are beans with breakfast but you'll get em here and there done great.
A little bit of a spiced tomato sauce mmmmm!
Really great sized portions for a fair price and service is always friendly.
It's pretty busy most times we've been there and they've got the food to the tables pretty quick considering.
Neat old place, glad to see it's still pumping out good food after all these yrs! -

I was visiting a friend in Vancouver when we caught an old episode of that show "You Gotta Eat Here" featuring the Hilltop Diner Cafe. So we decided to make a trip out to Langley.
This is like a classic old school diner. It's a family run business, and you can tell that everything they make is homemade (I mean they cook in their kitchen in the restaurant, but it's made with care). We each ordered a burger, and it was delicious. Juicy beef patty, tomato slice, lettuce, on a bun with thin cut fries on the side - everything you dream a burger to be.
The portions are good. you will not starve at this restaurant. Normally I'd have my burger and coffee and be good to go, but I know this diner is famous for their pies. You can order a whole pie (if available), but this was my last day before flying home to Edmonton, so we just ordered a slice each. They have a lot of different cream pies and are well-known for their flapper pies (which I'm familiar with being from Alberta, but apparently it's not such a big thing in BC). I got a peach raspberry pie and it was delicious.
We ate around noon and I wasn't hungry all day. When we were going to pay for the bills the lady ringing us up (maybe the owner or manager) was super friendly. She pointed out that their cafe is often used in filming, and can even get full with regular patrons, so it's always best to call ahead to make sure they're open and for a reservation. We lucked out and got in right away because it was a hot day, but that's some good advice.
Have some lunch or breakfast (the whole menu looks delicious), but definitely save room for pie. -

Classic.
Movie themed and clearly an institution. Decent burgers and sandwiches, and awesome pies!!
This is kind of the full package deal, may it never go away (and I'm actually hopeful, unlike everything else I like,.. not prime condo teardown territory). -

We always say the interior decor and the overall atmosphere is a big part of any kind of dining experience.
At Hilltop Diner Cafe, the decor and the set up of the dining room is a throw back to the 50's, with a very homey feel.
Food-wise, the theme is "Comfort Food", i.e. Pies, Sandwiches, Burgers, Breakfast and Soups etc. Nothing fancy, but just home style cooking.
After we were shown our table we were promptly offered coffee, a hot fresh cup of good coffee can never go wrong! Thank you for the hospitality!
Ordered Hot Turkey Sandwich and Roasted Turkey Sandwich, both came with sides of your choice, hash brown or fries. Turkey were very flavourful and both had a generous heaps of white and dark meat. The gravy on the Hot Turkey was especially rich and tasty. Both came with home made cranberry jelly, tart & fruity, perfect accompaniment to both.
Service is fast and friendly, this is a great stop over if you are in the area, located on busy Fraser Hwy, I am sure a slice of their famous pie will help cure the Traffic Jam Blues!!
Hours from 8:00am - 2:30pm daily, major credit cards accepted.
Verdict: Recommended!
( even after driving here from Richmond just for lunch! ) -

If you're brown don't bother. You'll sit there with no menu, no cutlery while customers seated after you will be attended to. Everyone got service except us. I had to call the waitress over to take my order and ask for coffee. I ordered and was asked if my food was to go. We weren't attended to once other than when our food came out. As the only nonwhite patrons at the time we felt uncomfortable and unwelcome. First and last time there.
